Zemun

As expected, Partizan defeated Zemun, and won domestic Cup. Right from the start it was obvious who will win the cup. Partizan started furiously, had several good scoring chances, but fans had to wait for the 12th minute to celebrate a first goal. Morreira got the ball, found Diarra at the top of the box. Diarra took a nice shot and scored. Second goal was also scored by Diarra in 41st minute, and it was a replay of a first one. Between the goals Partizan had few more good scoring chances.

In the second half much the same scenario. Partizan was all over Zemun, but missed at least 5 great scoring chances. Then in 90th minute, Diarra got his hat trick. Congrats, to coach Jokanović and all the lads on a job well done! This is Partizan's 10th domestic Cup.

A repeat of 2007 Serbian Cup when Partizan had a huge lead in the last period, then collapsed and allowed FMP to win. Tonight was much the same scenario as Partizan had a 13 point lead with 6 minutes to go, and then simply stopped playing. FMP made a 15-0 run and won the game. Best players for Partizan were Peković with 19, and Veličković with 14 points.

For the first time this spring Partizan played equally well during both half's, in fact traditionally bad first half was today much better then the second, but there were no goals, even though Partizan had three glorious chances. The only goal came in 56th minute. Obradović crosses the ball, Tošić took a shot with a head, goalkeeper made a save, but the ball came back to Tošić who made no mistakes from three meters out. Host club had only two half chances, thus our win is a well deserved one. With four games to go Partizan remains in the first spot.

Partizan is three points closer to 20th championship title. First half was slow once again, but Partizan did have three very good scoring chances. Unfortunately, all three were saved by goalkeeper.

At the start of the second half Partizan went one up. Ball was crossed from the left side, Jovetić tried a shot, was blocked, but the ball came to Diarra, who had an open net from 5 meters out. 1:0 for Partizan. Several minutes later it was 2:0. Jovetić received a ball 20 meters out, turned his defender around, and struck with missile accuracy. Ten minutes later guest player Useni received his second yellow card and Partizan had a man advantage. Three more great chances were created, but the score line did not change.

As expected, Partizan had an easy time with Borac in Čačak! By the end of the first period it was all over as Partizan had a 27:8 lead. After that, all the players were given a chance to play, and all of them scored at least two points. After all was said and done Vraneš was our top scorer with 16 points. Partizan is still undefeated in domestic competition.

In the finals of regional competition Partizan was not to be denied. Right from the start Partizan played terrific defensive game not allowing Hemofarm to score more then 15 points per quarter. By the half time it was obvious that Partizan will keep the title it won last year as the best club in the region. By the end of third quarter Partizan had a 23 point lead, and the celebration was on the way. MVP of the Final 4 was Nikola Peković.

Terrible performance by our footballers in the first half. Almost nothing positive happened until 42 minute when Diarra had a good scoring chance. In the second half it was a different picture, as Partizan started attacking from the start. Number of good scoring chances were created but Čukarički keeper did his best to keep the balls out. But, in 83 minute Partizan finally broke through. Jovetić made a masterful move, and sent Tošić through to the goal. This time Tošić made no mistake, and Partizan deservedly won the game.

In a 1/2 finals of regional competition held in Ljubljana Slovenia, Partizan defeated host club Olimpija by 94:90. It was a close game throughout, but it must be noted that Partizan once again played just well enough to win, and at the end that is all that counts. By far the best player for Partizan was Peković with 31 points. In the finals Partizan will play another Serbian club, Hemofarm from Vršac.

Another win in domestic competition. Partizan played its round 6 game one day ahead of schedule because it will take part in Regional league (NLB) Final 4 competition which starts on Friday.

In tonight's game Partizan dominated throughout the game controlling its outcome right to the end. Hemofarm did make it a bit interesting in the last period, but when everything is said and done Partizan walked away with 4th straight win. Best player for Partizan was Tripković with 29 points.

FOOTBALL - Superliga: Round 26

This was yet again a game with two different half's. In the first one Partizan played well enough to take a lead, create several more good scoring chances and shut down Borac. The second half was totally different. Partizan without any reason shut down their attacks and decided to play defensive football. Borac did have two decent chances but the impression was that they could not score if the played another three half's. With this win Partizan remains in top spot, three points clear of Red Star.

Nothing new in basketball derby. Partizan defeated their arch rival for the 13th time in the last 14 games. Tonight Red Star played actually well, had a lead for most of the game, and in 35th minute had a nice 8 point lead. However! That is when Partizan decided to turn it on and win the game. Making a 20:4 run in the final 5 minute of the game, Partizan won its third game of the season. Reminder, Partizan did not play first two rounds due to play in Euroleague 1/4 finals, and will have to make up those games later on in the season!

We almost lost this one after leading 2:0, but in the end better club won!

It was a picture perfect first half. Partizan started furiously, and it did not take long for a first goal. In 13th minute Jovetić got the ball on the center line, passed it to Diarra who had a breakaway. Thundering kick, and Partizan is up 1:0. Only three minutes later Jovetić and Maletić exchanged passes, Morreira was alone on penalty spot, took a shot but it was stopped on goal line. Not long after that it was 2:0. Knežević started a play, and made a terrific pass to Diarra. He turned several Red Star players around and struck from 18 meters. Two more opportunities were missed in first half.

During first ten minutes in the second half Partizan had two more good scoring chances. Then the wheels fell of for ten minutes and Red Star scored two goals. First one was from a classic off side position, but the ref obviously missed it. Then as the score was 2:2 Red Star scored a third, but this time Ref called it back. He made a mistake, there was no offside. In 80th minute Obradović crossed the ball from the left side, Diarra turned it towards Jovetić and Partizan had a lead once again, and a place in the Serbian cup finals against Zemun.

Partizan did not loose tonight, it was mugged by the three refs. Game started with a huge Partizan lead 14:6, but then refs took over. Quick fouls were called on our key players Peković and Vraneš, in fact both received six fouls in less then ten minutes.

Burdened by undeserved fouls Partizan's play was drastically halted. TAU took over, and when they finally had a lead refs eased up on Partizan. But, as soon as Partizan showed life, and started to come back, refs would have none of it. It was quite clear that Partizan was not allowed to play and win, after all how can a club with such low income qualify for ULEB's prestigious Final 4.

We know who ordered all this and why! ULEB, UEFA, same shit different package!!

After the biggest test Partizan remains 5 points ahead of Red Star with nine games to go in the season. Red Star started a game better then Partizan, scored in 23 minute and had a good chance in 30th, but after that it was all Partizan. No sooner did Red Star had their chance Partizan went the other way and scored a goal, courtesy of our Brazilian midfielder Juca .Partizan had three more good chances to score and win, but missed them.

In the last minute of the game Our defender made a bad pas right to RS striker who went alone against our keeper. His shot went wide but he and keeper collided in front of penalty box, but that was enough for the ref to signal a penalty shot. No one could believe the call. Not when its outside of the box, not again! But, once linemen had a chance and talked to main ref, penalty was rightfully overturned and a free kick was given. Game ended after a shot sailed over the goal.

Yes baby, there will be a third game. Partizan was simply brilliant! Right from the start Partizan took it to Spaniards, had a 13 point lead, and did not fold when TAU made a run at them. Even when TAU came as close as 1 point behind, Partizan players did not panic, but simply turned it on again, and took a 11 point lead midway in the last period. Scoring did not stop there, as Partizan kept the pressure on, and TAU finally caved in.

Third and deciding game is next Thursday in Spain, but considering everything that happened in the first and especially this game, Partizan "does have a chance" to move to the Final 4 for the first time since 1998.

Right from the start it was obvious that Partizan players were too nervous. In first three minutes they missed four easy lay ups. However, as the game wore on the did calm down and played rather well, in fact it was Partizan who had a lead at the half time. Unfortunately, it was short lives as nervousness showed up again, easy and key points were missed and TAU went ahead by 8 points.

Partizan tried to get back but continued to miss some key shots, thus a lose was inevitable. Partizan may have lost the first game, but its far from over. If Partizan plays with the same intensity but without nervousness, it will be a different picture in Pionir arena.

FOOTBALL - Superliga: Round 22o

Partizan

What an unbelievable game, and only 0:1 at the end. Right from the start everyone knew that Partizan will be the attacker, Borac will defend trying their best to waste as much time as possible, but no one expected that they would use the dirtiest trick in the book. The entire game was played with "one ball". Every time ball went out of play, it was suspended until that specific ball was given back... no spare balls were used. Pathetic!!!

Regardless, Partizan had three great scoring chances in the first half but Čadikovski and Đorđević missed them. Borac did have one semi chance in 40th minute. In the second half, much of the same scenario was replayed. Partizan attacking, Borac defending. Čadikovski had another breakaway, and also hit one crossbar. Ćetković also had a good opportunity.

Late in the game Diarra got his second yellow for trying to pick up opponent from the ground, since it was obvious to everyone that there was nothing wrong with him, and was only trying to waste time. Five extra minutes were to be played. Two minutes in free kick was awarded to Partizan, about 30 meters away. Đorđević took a fantastic shot and the ball went in the top right corner. A well deserved win and Partizan is now seven points ahead of second placed Red Star.

This was one of the worst performances that we have seen and yet, Partizan managed not to lose. Makes one wonder what would have happened if Partizan played at only 70%, let alone 90. Mladost did play well and even had a 7:4 lead in the third period, but Partizan managed to tie the game. Both clubs had a chance to win the game but failed. Rematch is in Zagreb, but considering that Partizan could not have played any worse then tonight, we are optimistic about their chances.

March 21, 2008

Partizan and Serbian swimmer Milorad Čavić was suspended form competition in European Championships for wearing a t-shirt "Kosovo is Serbia" Considering the fact that UN and most of the countries did not recognize their bid for independence, Čavić did nothing wrong.

One must ask himself if the same would have happened if some German or British swimmer wore a t-shirt with "Free Tiber" on it, we doubt it, for Europe sanctions Serbian clubs and players, while players and clubs from "master race" go unpunished.

Weather Serbia really wants to be part of rotten to the core European Union is something Serbian voters will have to ask them self in May, during parliamentary elections. We know how we will vote!

Unbelievable game, and unbelievable theft by refs. Partizan played very well, and if there was at least decent officiating game would have been secured much earlier. By our count refs missed at least 14 fouls against Siena players, while at the other side at least four Partizan fouls were not fouls. Regardless of it all Partizan managed to win the game in the last few seconds.

With ten seconds to go, Partizan had a point lead, and a throw in from the side. Ball was put in play, but Siena player kicked it, and his teammate picked it up. It should have been Partizan ball, but refs looked the other way. What an absurd decision!! Foul was committed, and Siena had two free throws to win the game. There must be a God since both were missed. Kecman got the rebound, was fouled, and made both throws for a win. In fact, Partizan started well, scored in the 3rd minute, and had two more fantastic chances, when Diarra, and then Maletić had a break away but both misses colossal chances. After that it was all over, Partizan players simply stopped trying. Add to it great amount of help from the main referee, whom allowed a play to continue even though CZ player played with a hand, which eventually produced first CZ goal. Prior to half time, he should have given a red card to Basta as he was the last player and put our played down from the back. Then in the second half, giving Rnić a red card, which was at maximum yellow, if that! Adding to that a monsoon conditions and a terrible pitch, no wonder Partizan lost.

Partizan could not repeat and defeat Red Star for the second time in a row. In a very interesting match, RS was slightly better and won the game. Even though Partizan lost it will keep its fourth spot prior to the mini league playoffs.

17-2. Terrible performance by Partizan especially in the first period when it allowed 28 points. There is no excuse for it, players simply did not play, hence a loss was unavoidable.

Partizan is one step away from Top 16! In tonight's game Partizan totally demolished German club by 48 points. Right from the start it was evident that Partizan came to play, and play they did. Lead was increased from minute to minute, and it finally stopped at 48. What is even more impressive is the defense Partizan played, and rebounds, 48-16 in our favor. Tonight Partizan was far superior then out guests, from Germany, its as simple as that. Best player for Partizan were Veličković with 17, and Tepić with 16 points.

It took some doing but Partizan managed to defeat Italian club Posillipo and is now on the verge of quarterfinals.

Tonight's game was an exciting one. Defenses prevailed as the score was only 7:5 for Partizan. Guests had a lead throughout the first half, but in third period Partizan finally managed to grab a 5:3 lead. However, it was short lived as Posillipo tied it at 5:5. In the final period a defensive struggle ensued, and it lasted almost until the end, but Partizan did manage to score two goals in the last few minute and secure a win.

Goals for Partizan were scored by Prlainović (2), Nastran, Rađen, Duško Pijetlović, Gocić and Avramović.

17-1. Another rather dismal performance against worst team in regional constitution. Helios managed to take a lead in the third period, and that is what woke up Partizan players, as they went on rampage in the last period. Best players for Partizan were Tepić with 15 points, and Peković with 14.

Another incredible finish, but a lose nevertheless. Partizan started a game superbly, hitting three in a row for a three points. However, second period was a forgetful one as Partizan scored first points four minutes into a period. Roma had a nice lead toward the end of the game, but Partizan managed to tie it with one second left. In overtime Partizan had a lead but could not keep it, as Palacio made a foul in attack and carry ball in next possession, and that was all she wrote. Partizan still has a chance to move to Top 16, but will have to win its last two games.

When one club shoots 7 of 32 for three points, a lose is virtually guaranteed. Actually, Partizan played rather well in all aspects but a three point shot was terrible. Game was a close one, and was decided in the last minute as Real took a 6 point lead and Partizan continued to force three point shots.

15-1, in regional competition! Partizan played another superb game and defeated FMP by 22 points. At the start of the game Partizan once again turned the ball over too many times... had it not been for that, it would have been all over by the half time. Nevertheless, a win is a win and now there is no doubt that Partizan will start the playoffs in the first spot, since there is "no one" capable of stopping us. Best players for Partizan were Uroš Triković with 16 points, Milton Palacio and Milenko Tepić scored 13 each.

Again, it was close, but not good enough. Partizan once again played "hot-cold". At a times Partizan looked like a European champion, but at others he looked like a third class club. Too many lost balls (19 turnovers) dictated the final outcome.

PAO had a huge 15 point lead but Partizan chiseled away at it, and with only 7 seconds left in the game was down by only one point, and had a ball. However Palacio made a bad play, and that was all she wrote... another lose which after ten games makes us 4-6. Next game is in Belgrade against Real Madrid, a game Partizan "must" win.
